Hooda highlights alarming safety concerns: Haryana tops NCRB's list of most unsafe States

Former Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, expressed grave concerns over the state's safety, citing NCRB data that positions Haryana as the most unsafe in the country. According to the data, an average of three murders occur daily, totaling 1,020 in 2022. Hooda emphasized the deteriorating safety for women under the BJP-JJP rule, revealing 16,743 reported cases of crimes against women in the same year.

Rising crimes and safety concerns grip Haryana

Hooda highlighted the disturbing statistics, including 1,787 reported rape cases and 2,640 missing children, urging a high-level inquiry into such incidents. He condemned the sexual exploitation of girl students in Kaithal district and criticized the government's 'Beti Bachao' initiative, asserting its failure in protecting daughters.

Suicides, drug abuse, and hooch deaths 

The former CM addressed the pressing issues of suicides, revealing 73 deaths due to drug abuse and 3,783 suicides in 2022. Hooda pointed out the alarming rate of suicides among those with an annual income below ₹1 lakh. Additionally, he criticized the prevalence of hooch deaths and accused the government of inaction against major players in the illicit trade. Hooda raised concerns about the state's health and law enforcement systems, attributing the worsening situation to the ongoing conflict between CM Khattar and Health Minister Anil Vij. The Congress leader announced plans to address these issues in the upcoming winter assembly session.
